This was our first time at this restaurant. My wife and I try a new restaurant every week and price has never been a consideration. That said, the food was excellent, the decor intriguing, but we noticed the incredible gap in service between our table and those where the guests were clearly regulars. There was the feel of "snob appeal" by the wait staff that made us feel viewed as unqualified to be there, even though we were typical for the clientele. I left feeling it was our one and only visit, and that I didn't receive true value for the evening we spent there.

Rather than providing a printed list of specials, the waiter recites them, without stating the prices. Often, the specials are much more expensive than similar on-the-menu items, so this practice seems to be intended to deceive the customer. Very noisy!

This would be a top 5 restaurant in Houston for any serious food critic. I have worked in Fine Dining from Hawaii to NYC. This place is ranked with my favorites of all time, in any city.

My girlfriend and I have a date night every week and are always trying new places and I was really disappointed in my pick this week. I chose Mark's mainly due to my parents recommendation of how great it was. Unfortunately, the placed seemed stuffy and outdated along with the service we received. Also I was surprised that there was not much to chose from on the menu. Overall, it was all mediocre and don't think we will be back.
