Inside a shotgun shack on the outskirts of Fairfield lies a little bit of fin de siecle Paris. Martel does a nice little bistro impersonation with excellent steaks, frisee, and other must haves. Go early if you don't have a reservation, because the word has been out for some time now...
Fresh tasty ingredients cooked to perfection, served by friendly, helpful wait staff, combined with surroundings reminiscent of eating in Europe. Desserts are decadent and hard to choose from - I highly recommend trio of chocolate pots and banana creme brulee. Although you can't book, you never wait long. Have been regularly since it opened and am never disappointed.
Went for the first time the other night - excellent start to finish. Did not have to wait very long to sit down. Menu had a lot of great looking choices and everything was very reasonably priced, same goes for the wine list. Service was very professional and the meal was well paced. Will definitely go back.
A great addition to Fairfield restaurants. Fun, unique menu. Fun bartenders and wait staff. Never had anything less than excellent on my many visits. Hands on owner keeps his eyes on the details. Nice decor. Often crowded, but waits are not overly long and the bar is a friendly, fun place for a short wait. Definitely worth a trip. You will come back again and again.
Excellent choice. A french bistro feel and flavor. You have got to try the fondue appetizer followed by the Steak & Frites - add a glass of Wine and you will feel transported to a Paris Bistro! I can't wait to go back.
