If zagat says that this place keeps getting better with age, then the food rating should go up, not down.
SCORE IS MORE LIKE 24/20/21.
With their new stepped up menu serving such delicacies as foies gras & wagyu beef & sushi that is top notch, this place is highly recommended.

Overall: Very fine caliber of food & service.Started with X.O. Clams appetizer which was deliteful. Clams were perfectly undercooked and the butter sauce w/ scallions and dried scallops lent the dish an almost bacon like flavor which was superb.Champagne accompaniment was perfectly paired.Next a couple of house special rolls, featuring lobster & spicy tuna. gr8.Dessert specials for valentines day, sinfully home made.Loved it.

The large tanks of tropical fish add to the ambience of eating at Matsuya. You can have a more economical gastronomical experience if you order one of the pris fixe dinners. The sushi is outstanding and well flavored. Because you're in Great Neck, you should try one of the Great Neck rolls - they have just the right amount of crunch and munch. The restaurant is small; seating is a bit cramped.

Love the food, service & atmosphere. Their service of fresh quality fish is the primary attraction. The Uni is from the West coast which is a plus. For the less adventurous diners, the cooked food is tasty. Any cooked meat dish is outstanding. Friendly wait staff. Largest, in restaurant, salt-water tank I've ever seen. Try the Limeade; it is a non-alcoholic refreshing drink.
