My favorite place to eat Italian food. There is not too many Italian restaurants in Nola that are this good.
The first time we tried to eat here they were packed, however on our next trip to NOLA we were able to get a table. The tables in the back were great, you were entertained by the cook staff while waiting on your meal. The food was great and we will definately return to Maximo's on future trips.
Our favorite New Orleans restaurant - fresh contemporary Italian and wonderful seafood dishes. Chef Thomas Woods consistently prepares amazing specials and is exciting to watch from the open kitchen. If anything I find Maximos to be underpriced compared to most other N.O. restaurants. Mostly a local crowd - friendly staff excellent service, food, wine. Go go!
1 hour 20 min after ordering, we hadn't been served our 1st course. We watched endless food coming out, but none for us, despite being seated far earlier than others being served. I asked our waiter how it was going and he replied, "It's very, very bad." We finally had to leave at 10PM, starved. Staff was defensive and unapologetic. I wrote the manager but he didn't bother to respond. A terrible experience.
Instead of the snobbish routine answer in the past, "We may be able to seat your at 9:30" , the instructions were to "come on over we're really slow tonite". A refreshingly honest answer indicating patron appreciation. Wonderful service, scallop appetizer, osso bucco, capreze salad all perfectly prepared with great wine parings. Waiter was very nice and helpful. Their veal is always prepared perfectly. Hope this improved attitude is lasting.
