Michener's is rightfully famous for its jumbo lump Maryland Crab Cakes, which you can buy frozen at four for $40 to bake at home. They were fabulous with no bits of cartilege and very little filler. One of the best crab cakes ever. My other favorite is at Duchess Daughter in Frederick. I am not a fan of Fraidley's cakes in the Lexington Market. I like to taste Blue Crab from the Chesapeake and not have it overpowered by flavorings
Now, here's a surprise...at an airport hotel. This cheerful and carefully supervised restaurant earned a repeat visit. Overflowing hors d'Oeuvres plates, fresh shrimp (really jumbo), Caesar salad and a delicious slow-cooked meat loaf was complimented by a fresh, flaky-crusted peach pie a la mode. And topping this delightful meal was a weekend feature including jazz and show tunes by a young professional pianist accompanied by a string bass that would have been at home in Carnegie Hall. It doesn't get too much better than this!
