Cosistently good Tex Mex as well as traditional dishes from the interior of Mexico. Red and green sauces are surprisingly complex. The red is served warm and has a deep, roasted flavor. The green manages to be smooth, tart, spicey with just a hint of sweetness----all at the same time. Complimentary queso is served warm with the chips. Good ambiance (don't let the exterior fool you) with low lighting and rich wood tones.
This place is over-rated, nothing special. The mole has been pedestrian. I don't understand the fuss.
when i went to mom alone's i was instantly encountered by a festive atmosphere and charming waiters. i do admit that the service was a bit slow on drinks and additional requests but overall, it was a great night out to eat
I've gone to Mom Alone a few times with folks from work(NASA). It has been on occasion "ok". My final time in late July 2007. The food was disappointing, the portions were small by any standard and the service was terrible, no refills on coke/tea etc. even when requested. Everyone in my party was disappointed. Upon complaint to the owner while paying, I requested my drink be taking off the tab. The owner objected rudely, and discussed me and my complaint in spanish right in front of me. There are so many better tex-mex placesplaces in Clearlake (Lupe's $$, Los Ramirez $)
