Mother's is a great restaurant. The food is delicious and their weekly featured menu always hits the right spot. That said, it's always almost impossible to get in without having to wait at least 30 minutes. The place is small for the demand they have. The service was ok, average, nothing special.

4.5, really. If only for the creativity this place is one cut above the rest. There is a lot of energy in this downtown eatery and it shows. Chefs come and go and one can tell right away this is one place that is special. My favorite restaurant in all of Portland. If there are people who have never made it to Mother's, then shame on them. The food is fresh, delicious, well-prepared, and moderately priced. Even after moving out of the state, I try to return to Mother's as frequently as possible. It's somewhat lacking in vegetarian options, but I'm not a vegetarian, so it's really not a problem in my book.
