Before going, make sure to have a reservation. Also for people with delicate stomachs/digestive systems it's probably not such a good idea. Other than that, everything else I could say would be extremely positive and perfect for fancy celebrations of all kinds.
Charming, well established restaurant with a varied menu, all well prepared on our visit. We were in the cozy wine cellar -- a bit cold in the winter, but the staff was quick to provide an auxiliary space heater. Being down there in a tiny room all by ourselves, we wondered if we would be neglected, but the staff was unobtrusively attentive. We expect to be back on our next visit to Washington.
Sunday brunch only: This was disappointing given all the hype. Yes, a HUGE variety of food from roast beef to eggs benedict. But for $30, why did they also charge $3.25 for a glass of orange juice! The waiters were not helpful--we had to ask for refills for coffee. You carry your own plates from the buffet (down stairs in some cases), yet they "helpfully" calculated tip options for you on your bill. The food was not tastefully displayed.
Very nice little restaurant. Good food and quaint atmosphere. I always eat here when in the area.
Great food, wonderful staff, AMAZING ambiance. Just a very delightful place to go for those romantic or special occasions.
