After reading the reviews was looking forward to dining at this restaurant. We went for lunch to avoid crowds. After viewing the menu & seeing the high prices (hoping they indicated the quality & the reviews) we ordered the Clam Chowder $11.00 & Fried clams at mkt. price of $18.00 & the Lobster Roll @ $22.00, all of which were of average taste & quality. We had to ask for everything (salt & pepper) (bread) & sweetner for the tea & for a refill. Very poor service. We came away wishing our money had been spent elsewhere.

One of the best seafood joints in Boston. No reservations makes for a chaotic scene at the door, and often the service can be slow. But the food keeps me coming back for more.

  • Went for lunch (same menu as dinner) on a rainy day and got a table right away. Sat at the bar, had amazing service. Started with assortment of oysters, always good. For entrees had Monkfish cassoulet and hot lobster roll. Both outstanding! I was expecting a heavy cassoulet but instead got a beautiful monkfish filet on top of cassoulet ingredients. It was light and delicious. Wonderful lunch, worth the splurge

  • I love this place, but its hard to say exactly why! The raw bar is extraordinary, as is the lobster roll, but everything else is just above average. I hate having to wait to get in, even at off peak times.

  • Neptune Oyster opens at 1130am, and if you're interested in grabbing lunch, you should be there as close to opening time as possible, as they do not accept reservations and the wait can be up to 2 hours. We decided to split 1 hot lobster roll and 1 cold lobster roll (so we could try both, of course). the hot lobster roll blew the cold lobster roll out of the water. • Most incredible lobster roll I've ever laid my mouth on. For a special treat, go on Sundays and order the fish tacos. Just be sure to show up early and expect a wait. They don't take reservations.
