I like the food, good guacamole, liked the cocktails with tequila, original and well prepared food, as mexican wanted to recognize is good restaurant and enjoy going there. Not 100% mexican, but good mix of mexican and north american cosine.
Best Mexican in the US., bar none. Have travelled and tasted Mexican cuisine all over the world, and I was totally unprepared for this.. Try the soup with the Tomato Sorbet, try Chiles Relleno...OMG. Wade through the mob of college kids drinking super-expensive 1%-er Tequilas in the bar and go upstairs to the dining room, it's surprisingly quiet and the food is so well served and so flavorful, you will cry out loud for MORE, MORE, MORE...
Nice dinner with wife and 2 friends. We had 3 different moles. I had the duck with a green pistachio-based mole. Well-balanced flavor with a touch of heat. Also tried the chicken with red chocolate mole, which had a pleasant rich flavor. My wife had a different green mole with scallops. All very good. Complimentary black beans were blended and tasty. Rice tasted like jasmine rice - not surprising given relation to Thali. Cool folk art.
This is NOT your typical Mexican restaurant - not a taco, fajita or enchilada - on the menu. Our son described this as more up-scale Mexico City restaurant. The menu choices were interesting and delicious, service very good, and decor attractive. Just what you would expect from the people who brought you Thali.
