FANTASTIC Modern British Pub Food. The Fish & Chips are phenomenal - and don't pass up the 'bubble and squeak!' Great selection of brews. Showed up at 8 pm on a Friday evening with no reservations - there was a 45 minute wait, but we got a bar seat immediately, so we just ended up eating there. Bar tenders gave fantastic service (and bonus for a purse hook under the bar). Will be back!
Don't miss the bubble and squeak. The variety of beer they offer is unmatched. I couldn't believe they had Marston's Oyster Stout on tap! The burger is one of the best. Don't be afraid to ask for beer recommendations. That's how I found out about Two Brothers Northwinds Stout. Great atmosphere.
Owen & Engine is off the radar from most of Chicago's great eateries. 1 block South of the 6-way Western/Diversey/Elston intersection near Logan Square, O&E competes with the likes of Burger King and Golden Nugget for best dinner spot in the area. I've never been to England, but the atmosphere feels London pub-like. Great beer selection. The taxidermy Raven/Blackbird evokes Poe or Hitchcock.
A new restaurant that made a splash fast. Great English-style beer and several casks, with some of the best high-concept pub food in town. Try the beef tartare, roast chicken, or outrageously good fish and chips.
London pub with Hipsters running the show.
