A grand dining room which is seemingly from a different era. The menu is solid and is obviously not shooting for innovative. Our first plates were very good - a delicious crab cake and a surprisingly good French onion soup. Our second plates - the scrod and salmon were good but were not spectacular. Because it invented it, we had the Boston cream pie to share, which was lovely. All in all, I thought the food was perhaps not quite up to the room
An expensive breakfast, but the decor and service made it worth while. There was a wide choice including a buffet and all the food was well prepared and tasty as would be expected of a big, chain hotel.
This restaurant has an incredible history -- they invented the Parker House rolls and Boston Cream pie. Ho Chi Minh and Malcome X worked there. JFK proposed to Jackie O. If only the food and service were as incredible. Instead, they just seemed like what you'd find at any fancy hotel - nice, formal, competent, but not great, except for the Boston Cream Pie. That pie lived up to the history.
Go for the Boston cream pie. It's a religious experience!
An elegant room serving food which is good for type. If you're looking for something innovative, go elsewhere.
