When people ask me what is the best restaurant in town, I tell them Pesce. And if you go more than once, they remember you and treat you like an old friend.
Polite service that was attentive to our unusual allergies, and excellent food. The entrees were flawless, and they even managed to find a superb dessert that neither of us was allergic to.
If despite the Great Recession you still possess the wherewithal , run, don't walk, to Pesce. The freshest fish in DC expertly prepared. Everything on the menu is delicious but go for the whole Branzino when it's available.
Which was better, the food or the service -is hard to call. They were both great. The atmosphere was a little quiet for a lone diner at the bar, but all was forgotten with my first taste of a beet napoleon, dressed over borsht, by the tastebuds. The mussels are easilty a meal, especially dipping the "I must keep eating this" broth with crusty bread. I am certain table service with good companions would be so memorable.
Great!
