What happens at Peter Luger's stays at Peter Luger's. Dale remembers going with her grandfather 55 years ago. They dunked rye bread in the fatty juices, ate tomatoes & sliced onions in Peter Luger Sauce, enjoyed sides of hash browns and creamed spinach and, of course, a porterhouse steak for two eaten completely. Normally, Dale watches my eating like a hawk. Once a year we just push reality aside and do what we've done since we were kids....

  • Worth the trip to BK for the best porterhouse steak in NYC.

  • Peter Luger is an institute and they know it; in a good way. It just vibes and the old time receptionist and waiters are just part of the experience. To be honest the porterhouse was not great, way too fat. Not su re what breed they used but there are much better steaks around. Nevertheless, lager and steak sauce were top notch so worth the visit!

  • Just may be the best steak I've ever eaten. Get a reservation, and order your steak "rare plus". The half-timber interior and the tables give it a great vibe.

Excelllent steak that is excellently cooked, great sides, generous drink portions, and the waiters are not as "gnarly" as the summary suggests. Pricey, of course, but after all this is NYC, and the portions are somewhere between massive and humongous. Steak sauce is top-knotch, and I usually don't much like steak sauce. So what does the decor matter?
