With all of the great restaurants to choose from on Federal Hill, Providence Oyster Bar stands out for a few reasons..the first is that it is not solely an Italian restaurant. Secondly, it's bar area and bartenders are the best on "The Hill". And finally, the food, service and specialty drinks are second to none. It is not your typical RI seafood shack by the beach, although the raw bar does feature some local fare. Try this world class spot.

  • "BEST" place on the hill. I’ve gone for just drinks during happy hour to dinner. Staff’s is always attentive and go out of their way to make your experience pleasant. I love to head up during the summer and sit outside watching people passing by while in enjoy a large platter of oysters and littlenecks. The seafood is always the freshest. I have my favorite spot and they always manage to accommodate.

  • This place was fabulous. The most pleasing, of course, were the oysters. After 6 1/2 dz. of them, we wanted more. They were so fresh that the waiter barely got to place them on the table before we started grabbing at them. There wasn't a single dish that my whole clan did not like. The scallops were to die for. Everyone loved their meals. This is a definite return for us!

  • Friendly bartenders, fresh seafood. Good steaks. Solid "basics". Not dizzyingly creative, but consistent and good.
