Best Miami steakhouse overall, but with many close competitors, all with different advantages. Capital Grille: best clubby, community feeling, so lacking and needed in downtown Miami. Almost feels like the Oglethorpe Club back in Savannah. The food is fine, nothing amazing, and served in human proportions.
First visit was back in 2010: Fantastic fillet mignon & best I have ever had so far. When I returned in 2012 I loved it even more! Steak was cooked perfectly (I had the filet mignon again, medium) and was literally melting in my mouth, with green beans with olive oil, bacon and pine nuts on the side - delicious! Crab as a starter which was pricy but worth every cent, and steak tartar which was very good (portion a little too big). So coming back!
We went Sat. night and sat at a bar area booth. We ordered a bottle of red wine & changed to a white. We were billed for the red which was 2x as much as the white. Ordered the tomato and mozzarella salad and was asked if I would like the Burrata cheese instead of mozz. I thought it to be a slight "upgrade" but when the bill came it was almost twice as much. We took a taxi but our bill included a $15 valet charge. Mgr was notified.
Pricey, but worth the experience if you like loud, busy, happening places to dine on fabulous steaks and seafood with very attentive service and don't mind paying through the nose for it.
We love Red but want the owner aware of a waitress that's served us twice when sitting at a table for 2 in the middle section. I always order a charred bone-in filet at steakhousess, which has probably been 100s of times and, as a local, at Red at least a dozen times. This lady has told me each time, with attitude, I shouldn't order that cut charred because it will cook unevenly and she won't be held responsible. Can management set her straight?
