Fine dining does exist in Atlanta, and it is located at Restaurant Eugene. The chef's tasting menu with wines is not dinner, it's a 2 1/2 hour dining experience, in a beautifully subdued and private setting. Every serving was a unique combination of flavors and textures. The tasting is a special event; I would not want it every time (nor would my wallet). But I can't wait to try the fish, the duck, and even the steak on future visits.
Celebrated my anniversary with my wife with a quite dinner. Tried the tasting menu - it was awesome. We ordered the 6 course, but they added 3 just as a 'gift'. The food is awesome. The service was just as awesome - they made us feel special. If I had a boat load of money, this is where I would dine every week.
We had the tasting menu and wine pairing at the beginning of August (menu is very seasonal) If we talked about each dish individually they'd all rank as very good with our dessert being surprisingly fantastic (Corn Mousse with a chocolate ganache). The best part was the flow of the tasting menu and how well all of them went together. It made for a fanastic meal. The bonus was Linton touching EVERY table. That is service from an award winning chef
Beware of the hype, the food is just not that good. I wanted it to be great, I expected it to be exceptional, but it was simply mediocre. Of the four dishes we ate, none were above room temperature. The ribeye was very tough and chewy and the recommended snapper was cold and flavorless, as though nobody had seasoned it. Service was excellent, the room is beautiful, but the food was not at the proper temperature and was underwhelming.
The duck was excellent. The service was OK - was a bit disappointed that we were 45 minutes in before we got our bottle of wine. Wanted teh chicken, but could not bring myself to pay $44 for a chicken entree.
