A blocky and rather ugly bank building has been converted to an attractive and sophisticated room. There is also a small, also attractive, area to eat outside in warm weather. The food is quite tasty and well presented (esp. shrimp risotto, black bass, lobster, duck, roast chicken, chocolate "mess"). Service generally attentive and friendly.
Go to the Fisky Oyster or tweed's down the street instead of this place. Service was terrible. Waiter came back 3 times to get the cocktail order straight. Menu lists all the ingredients in the dish but when the dish comes you have to search for the indredient. Tries too hard with its California feel and I coulfn't figure out what the large "peace" symbol on the front signifies. The name is absurd as well.
you know I wanted to love this restaurant. but on a Saturday night, it was very noisy and the music was too loud to have a conversation (although we asked to have it lowered) and the wait staff were all professional but snooty. Food was good but not Manhattan-great, and we did not like our drinks (several of the house specials) at all. Maybe we are not sophisticates. We probably won't go back although others tell us their experience was good.
Fabulous addition to Riverhead! My wife and I have eaten here five times this summer -- more in one year than any other restaurant any time. Great food and super service. Emphasis on local ingredients in inventive settings. Nice touches such as complimentary bottles of BOTH still and effervescent water on your table. Especially fun are the Tuesday community table wine dinners with local wine growers or distributors. GO!
Food was exceptional. 2nd best on North Fork after North Fork Table and Inn. Incredibly creative with local ingredients and deep flavors. From the outside expectations of decor are really low, but as soon as one enters, you can't help but be amazed that this old bank could become a modern oasis. Only negative is that the service is a mess. They are very nice but totally clueless. One can't help but wonder if the staff was even trained.
