After a reonvation, Roberta's at the El Cortez is now known as The Flame. Unfortunately the reno did not improve the food, and may have worsened the service. Even considering the lower prices, the food was bland and the service slow. Visiting the El Cortez is fun, but you can find better steakhouses downtown.
What Roberta's may lack in ambiance, it makes up in friendly service and moderate pricing. My wife's 8 ounce filet, served medium rare as requested, was very good though decidedly short of prime. My Chilean sea bass was enormous and perfectly cooked – crusty on the outside and moist inside, and accompanied by garlic mashed potatoes, a small fennel salad and saut?ed spinach. Prices are very friendly.
