Sadly, Rustic Canyon's OK food was overwhelmed by the hostess's nasty attitude and the poorly trained servers. The place's lighting reminded me of a scene from Koestler's "Darkness at Noon", and the server's constant positioning of his elbow in my face emphasized his need for a long, deep bath, NOW! The chicken was fine, and other dishes were acceptable, but $16 for six paper-thin slices of Paul Bertolli's Fra' Mani salumi was a bit over the top. Unfortunately, another west-side must miss!

Excellent, interesting wine list (including by-the-glass choices) and a very creative, constantly changing menu. Every dish is a flavor adventure. Service is friendly and efficient, both at the wine bar and in the main dining room. It's also walking distance from the Broad Stage, so perfect for a pre-theatre repast.

For several years, one of our favorites. Recently, however, the push to get more seatings has led to bad experiences. The busboys grab plates the second they are finished, making it totally clear you are not expected to savor the food for an extra second. At most recent visit, busboy literally pushed a guest away from her just finished plate so he could grab it. Truly unacceptable service, which means that we shall not return.

Pretty good burger. Top 10 in LA, but not top 5. A bit expensive for what it is.

A fresh, seasonal menu in this stylish yet casual Santa Monica setting is the perfect combination enjoy farm to table culinary dishes. Try the amazing whipped vegetable Shepard Pie or an organic Kobe burger, one of the best in town. An neighborhood favorite filled with faithful patrons, there is something here for everyone.
