Dined on Fri. 4/12/13. Initially felt unwelcome. We gave up our table and sat at bar where 5 of the 9 seats were also reserved. Weird we thought. Then we met the very personable bartender, Nick. Made great drinks and gave top service, but in the end, it comes down to the food. So...eggplant/broccoli rage app. was excellent. Sally's salad was super. Bread and seasoned oil is wonderful just don't overdo it. Chick parm & chick francaise super.
The only thing that keeps this place open is it's proximity to the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. They put capers and olives in just about every dish - apparently the only way the chef knows to impart flavor!
Not to be missed family run family style italian restaurant in the hear of Mid-town Baltimore. What Chef Sammy does to his sauces must be a deep family secrete...they are the best around. A not to be missed when in Baltimore.
Skip Little Italy, come to Sammy's for better food, bigger portions and less crowds. Sammy was previously the GM of Chiparelli's.
The service was slow three times in a row and I don't understand why. The restaurant wasn't very crowded and after all it is only pasta.
