Their Smithtown location is our "goto" sushi restaurant when dining on the Island. Nothing fancy, just really good sushi.
My wife and I were concerned when the new management took over but, they have stepped up and I believe that the food is even better now.
Quaint place. Fresh fish, traditional Japanese low-key menu & atmosphere. Mostly repeat customers. You'll notice customers greeting the Sushi Chefs, Toshi & Nelson (owner). When it is crowded, seating is tight & service slows. After you've dined here, you'll feel like you've just discovered a jewel & become one of those repeat customers.
Good size portions and great choice of sushi. Sub par however on the taste of the sushi rolls.
the private room off the sushi bar is wonderful for a quiet evening. remember to wear clean socks as you have to remove you shoes to be able to enter. the rest of the resturant has a wonderful eb and flow. even if you dont like sushi there are many things to please the non raw pallet.
EXCELLENT! The sushi fish is always fresh, the presentation is exquisite, the price is great. There are other Japanese restaurants in the area, but I only eat at SHIKI.
