The regular restaurant is outrageously overpriced even by already outrageous shore standards. However, the bar menu & prix fix are real bargains. The crab cake sandwich is excellent & the rest very good. A long happy "hour" on some nights also helps. It can be very crowded and those tall bar chairs at tables may be uncomfortable for some so go early even off season. The wait can easily be over an hour. Service is also slow but highly congenial.
Been to Margate many times, as a former resident of AC -- but never been to Steve and Cookie's. My mistake. Went with Beloved Foodie on a weekday summer evening and it was just terrific. She had delightful scallops and I had a wonderfully flavorful Scottish Salmon. The meal was terrific from start to finish, including a terrific server with a great command of the menu and on-target suggestions. To quote Arnold -- "We'll be back."
great all year round -but best in off season. excellent food and terrific bartenders. the specials are creative. the food is artisticly presented and in some cases, the best version ive ever had. i can recommend it with confidence.
Their "ugly tomato" and beet salad starters are the best. Reservations during the summer are a must.
Tends to be noisy. Well kept secret, ask to be seated in the piano room where it is quite and you get enterained by a piano player. Oyster Bar has a wonderful menu. And order the blueberry pie in advance to make sure they don't run out. May not be the best choice if you are on a diet but it is absolutely the best blueberry pie around.
