Not quite as classy as we expected or as we remembered from our last visit many years ago. Service remarkably slow at a time when they were only about half full - it took well over half an hour to square away our orders. Selection of main courses OK but unimaginative, quality of food good but not excellent. Setting memorable.
We thought we'd try this upscale restaurant one more time to see if we could overcome our last bad impression. Everything was perfect except the organic chicken dish on the Prix Fixe menu that I ordered. It smelled of chicken that had gone bad and someone cooked it any way. The brulee that followed, on the other hand, was superb.
I brought my good friend here for his birthday in late January. He drove over 150 miles. I specifically requested by email that a candle to be in his dessert. Then I was told I would need to mention this upon arrival. Trying to keep this secret, I called the restaurant and spoke with a woman who said it would all be taken care of. Upon dessert coming, there were no candles in his dessert. For the amount of money spent, I'm disappointed.
Quiet, elegant, romantic and great food, but I can't afford to go as often as I would like.
Excellent for a special occasion in any season.
