A change in management in mid 2007 has brought about an incredible world-class sushi restaurant. I am hard to impress with sushi having been to literally hundreds of different sushi places across North America and Europe, and Sushi Anju impresses me. The freshness, taste, & texture of the sushi is excellent. The dishes are indeed inventive & presentation is elegant. If you want romance, the back room with it's low lighting and long taut sheers is just the ticket. The service got my top rating for a perfect mix of attentive yet non-intrusive. Chef responded personally to a special request.

After frequenting local favorites such as Hump for a while I was finally turned onto Anju recently and have found it to be so superior to the other offerings that it has become my favorite sushi destination in town. The sushi is fresh with both traditional and inventive offerings with specialties like the Albacore with fried onion strings one of my personal favorites. Presentation borders on artistic in many cases. The decor is above average with a semi-private room in the back which is ideal for business lunches. Even with an average wait staff, this is a hidden gem for Santa Monica.
