Participate NowChecked out the three course for $30. Had an early evening meet. Hoped I could have a nice meal with friends beforehand. We were first to arrive and they still sat us next to bathrooms (worse than airline). The food was alright but three of us had same spicy steak "medium" and it was cooked three different ways.
At least I'm told the deserts were good. I missed out. Had to leave after an hour and a half. Cest Domage.
The restaurant was probably 10 degrees warmer than the great blizzardy outdoors. The floor is wooden and does not lend to the the heat situation. Parking is horrible in this weather. Upon being seated, we discovered a sparse menu with few options for vegetarians. The kitchen was unwilling to work with us on this. The food that we ordered was bland and over priced.
The first thing I noticed was all the glass that let everyone on the outside watch me eat. Eat was like being an inmate in an eating zoo. I found the menu limited unless you like to show everyone that you will eat unusual food. What ever happened to meat and potatoes. I will say though, once I found a food on the menu I recognized as food instead of decoration, I thought it was wonderful.
Now runner up in the best Frederick restaurant category to Volt, The Tasting Room formula hasn't changed: wine, martinis, seasonal menu, and crammed eating quarters.
Expensive, upscale, but not pretentious. Excellent menu with wines to match. The restaurant is very noisy, so it’s not the place for a romantic dinner. The Moroccan chicken with pineapple salad is a favorite made with pine nuts, orzo in a curry dressing. Lunch may be a better deal if you don’t want to splurge for dinner.
