It was pretty good for a first time Thai eating experience. I had the Pad Prig and Cucumber Salad. Both were just okay. I don't think I would order either of them again. I would definately give them another try in hopes of finding something I did like.
I couldn't disagree with Dawn more. Screw hip neighborhoods- I eat at Thai Lagoon at least once a week and have never had a bad experience. The Panang curry is the best in the city. I've taken multiple people there and it has been satisfaction all around. I truly believe this is the best Thai in Chicago, and i've tried most of it.
Thai Lagoon has been in my neighborhood for a more than a decade. And I love it. Crispy rice namsod - yummy!!! Crispy pad see you - yummy! Their wait staff is very friendly and the atmosphere cozy. And OK, they get really busy for take outs and deliveries, so I have to wait a bit to get my food to go but it's worth the wait!!!
I realized why I keep losing the delivery menu when I ordered - the food's mediocre at best. Grilled satay is fine, but having the ends burned hollow and rubbery is something else. The peanut sauce seems to have something in place of coconut milk in it. Why is it so difficult for a supposedly "hip" and "young" neighborhood to have a decent Thai restaurant?
