They have lots of wait staff, that is for sure. Why isn't the service better then? The bus boys run around at full speed, pour water to a table of 4 standing at one place rather than going around to each person. Similarly, in removing plates, it is "pardon my reach". The nicely dressed order-takers are relatively ignorant of dishes, and will sweep your wine glass away as you contemplate that last lovely sip that you carefully saved. Some of the dishes are weirdly over spiced - e.g. salads that are practically inedible. Basically, getting more mediocre each year.

The food was up to it's well-earned high reputation, the decor trendy, elegant, and relaxing. The place does have a reputation for more alacrity being shown to regulars and the well heeled. Our service was on the money, but our host did make a point of telling whoever took the reservation that we had a show to catch. The wine service was polished but unpretentious. (Well, the decanter was a bit much.) I recommend Tony's enthusiastically.

The food was fine but their service is impeccable. We had so many wait staff asking us how we were doing and if we were happy. The service more than makes up for the food being okay. It's a must for a romantic night out.

Not impressed at all. Very poor service if you are not a regular and ordering the most expensive items. My wife and I went for a special occasion and were very disappointed. The food was above average and the decor was very impressive, but for the cost, there are many places in Houston with better food and much better service. Tony's has stayed high on lists only because it is a recognized name.
