Sicilian pies are top-notch, but kitchen has a bad habit of overcooking pizzas.
Much-hyped, but most of it is true. Service was amazing (one friendly waitress took care of virtually the entire first dining section; the food was as fresh as any we've encountered in a long time. Top notch, particularly in the New Hyde Park area, where many establishments don't seem to care if you walked in in the first place.
Resevations were made a month in advance and confirmed two days prior for today for 10. we get there no table was ready. we waited 45min. they sit us at a table for 6, try to squeeze in 4 extra chairs. obvs we didnt fit. they sat us in the pizzaria. the food was mediocore. the waitress was great. all in all bad experience especially for easter. not going back.
I've been to this place a couple of times to give it a fair chance. This may be the most overrated pizza in NY. Even after blotting my slice with a napkin, oil actually shot onto my hand when I bit into it. The crust was burnt on the bottom. Not charred like brick oven pizza, just plain burnt. The slices were small, which I actually did not mind because the pizza was not that good anyway. I give it a C-minus.
Pizzas are the star at this popular eat in and take out pizzeria/restaurant. We happen to love the margarita pie, but you can't go wrong with grandma's or any of the others. The Italian dishes are not on the same level, although we had very enjoyable linguini with white clam sauce and house wine.
