I hear it's tough to get authentic Thai food anywhere in the USA and having never been to Thailand, I don't have ability to compare HOWEVER, I absolutely love this hole in the wall. I have been many many times. I most often order the Tom Kha Gai soup, Pad Thai, Thai broccoli, Pad Prik, and/or yellow or green curry. I am not fond of their soft spring rolls...they are too mushy and not filled with much flavor.
Excellent Thai food in a "hole-in-the-wall" location, service is polite but spotty. BYOB. Worth going for the green curry alone!
I've been to Thailand several times and was looking forward to trying the food at Vieng Thai. I thought the food was very low quality and the restaurant was a total dive. Thai's are typically very friendly and are extremely fussy about cleanliness and freshness. I found all of the above lacking. Both my chicken dish and shrimp dish tasted off-key and the meat was tough. Believe me, the quality of street food in Bangkok is much superior.
Incredible Thai food
"Best Pad Thai in Houston, maybe in Texas. Great green curry. Heat levels are American-friendly and not authentically Thai, but the food is very good."
