Went to Yunnan Kitchen on Saturday with 2 of my friends. Ordered 8 different dishes and 5 drinks, and our bill was only $108 for all three of us. I loved the concept of Chinese tapas, and the food was very flavorful - all the fresh ingredients, spices, herbs just burst in your mouth. I took lots of photos the food: http://bit.ly/Ox6aOB
Be careful, you will want to try the entire menu!. Mint salad, shredded chicken, braised beef rolls are a nice start! From here, go with the ham rice cakes and anything else! Delicious food and the service is a bigger surprise.....be prepared for a wait.
Not your mother's Chinese food. Delicious, spicy (but not tongue burning) small dishes served family style in a chic minimal space for a memorable and affordable meal. Vegetarian friendly. First time I enjoyed tofu in years. Some of our faves included the wax beans (a special), crispy shrimp (giant prawns fried with skins on that tasted a bit like salt baked), lamb meatballs ( moist and delicious), tofu skins with mint.
I felt the food had too much salt and grease on it.
Friendly staff and a cozy room can't make up for the flavorless small plates that come out of the kitchen. Dishes lack salt, spice, acid, seasoning. What seems like cheap eats on paper wind up being more expensive, given the plate sizes. Many are merely side dishes, both in size and ambition.
