Friday evening of the Memorial Day weekend: eight of us showed up timely for our 8:45 reservation but noticed that half the tables were empty. One possible reason: the service was awful. We saw our waitress (who never introduced herself by name) very sporadically. She never checked to see how our food was and at one point, disappeared for almost 45 minutes. The garlic soup and Waygu were tepid and the octopus barely warm. We would avoid Sage.

We really enjoyed our dinner at Angelo's. Our waiter was attentive, but did not rush us, and the food was really good. We particularly liked the octopus salad and the scungilli: both were exceptionally tender. I tried the signature Veal Sorrentina, which was delicious (and a large enough portion for dinner plus lunch the next day). There is so much mediocre Italian food around, it's a pleasure to find a place that has the real thing.

This place has become very pretentious, or was it just our waiter? Why "prime" the wine glass with a dribble of wine before bringing it to the table if the glass is clean and dry? Both the snapper and skate had lovely crispy skin but were DRY with no sauce, just a decorative plate smear. Major battle to get an ingredient omitted from a made to order dish for medical reasons. Spaghetti alla Chitarra still brilliant. Servers should be more cordial
