The food was fine and service ok. The problem was that they put in an auto 20% gratuity and did not say anything. The manager said that is their policy if you order a bottle of wine (even for a party of 3!). They never apologized but instead tried to get us to pay and offered incoherent excuses. We told them that it was unheard of and not appreciated. Someone got greedy. Sofrito is in the penalty box for the next year. Watch your bill!!!!!
We called in 15 min ahead to make a reservation. When we arrived, they told us we could sit outside or wait a 1/2 hour. There was no apology and it was just tough luck. Needless to say, we left before we could try any food. It was a very happening place but noisy. Be careful with the manager's attitude at the door!

Our last visit on a sparse Thursday night in March was disappointing. We paid $80+ for a seafood platter that tasted frozen and the lobster was fishy (which I sent back). When the waiter didn't address the fishy lobster, kept the full price of the appetizer on the bill and didn't notice that our entrees took a very long time, it's clear that management is cutting corners with the food quality and the service. Go during Christmas only!

This place challenges Mario Batali's best and the crudo may be better. The pastas are also fantastic and the wine list is the best that I have ever seen. L'artusi ranks up there with Gotham and Babbo!
