This was certainly one of my brilliant moves! One night, while thoroughly intoxicated in the back of a taxi cruising down 9th Ave, the rather elaborate signage of this restaurant caught my eye. I snapped a pic with my cell and all but forgot about it for the better part of a year. Simply put, this place is value meets superb, yet simple, Italian cuisine. Simple does not mean primitive though. Excellent date spot!. Zagat's ratings are too low!
This place is interesting. It is located in the middle of no-where in regards to other "hot spots". The crowd consists almost exclusively of local singles or couples in there late 30's 40's and early 50's. My friends mom spent many a night here between husbands... and sometimes while married, courting the local male fair. The food is fine... nothing special: Asian-influenced modern-American. Becomes a loud bar lounge around 10 pm.
This is a local favorite... you will not see many transients or "special occasion" dinners here. I disagree with Zagat's notion that it is cramped... the bar area, yes, but the main dining room is perfectly navigable for people of most statures. The food is great, and consists mainly of creative upgrades to classic seafood dishes like buffalo softshell crab or champagne-battered fried oysters. A bit pricey though. Great date spot, 1st or last.

Pretty authentic colonial-Mexican food. Authentic, warm and romantic decor. Abit pricey for Mexican, but the service is good, the food is good, and the location is convenient with plenty of parking. If you live in the area and need a "regular" Mexican place (aside from Taco Bell of course...). this is your spot!
