Forget your chain pizzas and conveyor belt pasta, this is proper Italian food. Not high dining, but solid rustic dishes which make for hearty eating. Highly commendable.
Hard to catogorise the food at Giraffe, and I wouldn't normally praise a restaurant that offers dishes from different origins, but here it works. The ingredients are clearly decent, and although the menu hasn't changed much it makes for a good alterative to other mainstream choices.
Two major things stand in Pizza Express's favour, and define why it continues to sucseed. First, the menu is ever evolving. For example the new small dessert with coffee option is very clever, and hard to resist. Also, there is perpetually a deal to be had there, which make it incredible value. Despite being a chain, it's a default location for me and many other friends, for very good reasons.
A place I've returned too, not because it is the best French food in London (although it is good) but because it is such a fun and attractive venue. Perfect for impressing a girl! Although the air can become a little smokey with all the grilling going on. Very highly recommended.
