Before the holidays are in full swing, treat yourself to one of these fall foodie events:
The Gist: Rustico's third annual event will serve more than 50 Virginia craft brews on cask and draft plus bottled varieties, rare brews and ciders. Chef Evan Buchholz will prepare such bites as grilled oysters, BBQ pork sandwiches, half smokes and fried mac ’n’ cheese. There will also be family-friendly games, music and a Halloween costume contest.

When: 12-5 PM
Cost: $5 at the door to benefit Arcadia Center for Sustainable Agriculture, which also gets you a complimentary Novemberfest koozie while supplies last. Food and drink tickets cost $1 per ticket, with 14-ounce beers generally costing 5-8 tickets.
The Gist: Headliners Guy Fieri and Bobby Flay preside over the two-day event featuring cooking demos by local chefs, workshops, a beer/wine/spirits pavilion and 300 specialty food exhibitors showing off some pretty amazing holiday gift ideas. Tastes from more than 40 local restaurants — including Acadiana, Hank’s Oyster Bar, Mama Rouge and Thally — will be offered in the separately priced tasting pavilion.
When: November 8 from 10 AM-6 PM; November 9 from 10 AM-5 PM
Where: Walter E. Washington Convention Center, 801 Mt. Vernon Place NW
Cost: $20 in advance or $24.50 at the door; $10 in advance or $13.50 at the door for children ages 4-12; children under 4 enter free; celebrity theater performances, cooking classes and Grand Tasting Pavilion are ticketed events and sold separately.
The Gist: The 12th annual fundraiser for FreshFarm Markets employs an auction, a cocktail party and a seated dinner to highlight local talent and regional farmers. Chefs cooking for the star-studded dinner include Victor Albisu of Del Campo; Tony Chittum of Iron Gate; Mike Friedman of The Red Hen; Marjorie Meek-Bradley of Ripple; and Kate Jansen of Willow. Local sommeliers and mixologists are on hand with local wines and cocktails.

Cost: Tickets, which can be purchased here, cost $125 for the cocktail party (6-7:30 PM only) or $300 for the cocktail party plus the sit-down dinner that follows. (A portion of the ticket price is tax-deductible.)
The Gist: The two-day market brings together local restaurants, chefs and food and beverage artisans under one roof offering tastes of their food and products. The inaugural DC event will feature such celebrated Mid-Atlantic chefs as Erik Bruner-Yang (Toki Underground), Spike Gjerde (Woodberry Kitchen) and Bryan Voltaggio (Range/Aggio), as well as nationally renowned restaurants Qui and Momofuku Milk Bar.
When: November 15 from 11 AM-4 PM; November 16 from 11 AM-3 PM; VIP admission starts at 10 AM both days

Cost: Tickets, which can be purchased here, cost $20-$40 for entry (free for kids 12 and younger). The Dolcezza workshops are selling for $50-$65 each.
