Corned beef and cabbage? We're sure there will be plenty of restaurants offering up that old St. Patrick's Day standby on Monday, March 17. (And stay tuned for some guides on where to find it.) But in the meanwhile, we hunted around for a few Irish-inspired specials that are bit off the beaten path: from a corned-beef burrito to green margaritas (because green beer is so ho-hum), here are some that caught our smiling, Irish eye.

Green Cotton Candy at SKYBOKX 109

The upscale Natick pub will offer a series of more traditional St. Patrick's Day specials like bangers and mash (Irish sausages with gold potatoes, green peas and onion demi-glace) and corned beef and cabbage. But there will also be more creative items around, like Bailey's chocolate mousse shooters topped with créme de menthe whipped cream and free green cotton candy for every guest.

Green Tea Margarita at Haru

Somewhere between Ireland, Mexico and Japan exists the idea that inspired this margarita, which takes tequila and Cointreau and spikes it with sweet green tea powder that gives it an emerald hue.

"When Irish Fries Are Smiling" at Shake Shack

Available only from March 14-17, the Harvard Square and Chestnut Hill locations of NYC-based patty purveyor Shake Shack will be offering "When Irish Fries Are Smiling," a cutesy-named side of spuds loaded with horseradish cream, bacon and scallions.

92 Winthrop St., Cambridge, 617-758-8495; 49 Boylston St., Newton, 617-651-3406

St. Patrick's Day Burrito at Anna's Taqueria

The beloved Boston taqueria brand will roll out a special burrito only available on March 17 at its six area locations. It's stuffed with corned beef and cabbage, with Irish-inspired add-ons like potatoes and mustard also available. (Or just load it up with standard Mexican fillings like guacamole. Rules: there are none!)

1412 Beacon St., Brookline; 617-739-7300

Lobster Reuben at Pauli's

The North End sandwich slinger is known for its over-the-top creations, like the USS Lobstitution, a 24-oz. monster. But for St. Patrick's Day, Pauli's is going to launch the "Lobster Reuben," a corned-beef sandwich filled with chunks of lobster, Swiss cheese and sauerkraut and topped with Thousand Island dressing on grilled rye bread.

Cupcakes at Sweet

The cupcake favorite, which has four locations between Boston and Cambridge, is baking up two limited-edition varieties for the big, green day: Irish Coffee (espresso-infused cappuccino cake topped with Bailey’s-infused whipped cream and dusted with cocoa) and Guinness Cupcake with Bailey's Buttercream (chocolate cake infused with Guinness stout and topped with Bailey's-laced vanilla buttercream).

49 Massachusetts Ave.; 617-247-2253

Infused Whiskey at MJ O'Connors

The Irish pub recently started its own Jameson Irish Whiskey infusions. Stop by now and you can sample sips of infusions made with pickles, cherries and bananas.
