It’s a big week for Alinea. After securing the number nine spot on San Pellegrino and Acqua Panna World’s 50 Best Restaurants list, moving up from last year's 15th ranking, Grant Achatz revealed plans to transport the restaurant to New York City for a limited-run pop-up. This will be the second time the Chicago team of chefs prepare its world-class cuisine in New York. In a fine-dining version of trading places, Alinea swapped locations with Eleven Madison Park in 2012.
Although details relating to exact time and location were sparse in Achatz's interview with Fine Dining Lovers, he said that it would replicated the Chicago experience down to every detail, from how many seats are in the dining room (60) to the execution of courses. The pop-up, which should open in October, was inspired by similar chefs transporting their restaurants to new markets, such as Rene Redzepi bringing Noma to Japan.
