The gist: Opening tomorrow, Epicurean Group, the folks behind hit Village restaurants Dell'anima, L'Artusi and L'Apicio (recently featured on Bravo's Best New Restaurant), will open Alta Linea at The High Line Hotel in Chelsea, a seasonal outdoor eatery located on the hotel's front courtyard and garden.
The drinks: The cocktail menu by owner/partner and wine guru Joe Campanale will highlight the Italian aperitivo tradition, featuring cocktails like frozen negronis and the Isola Privata, made with tequila, watermelon, Cocchi Rosa and Dolin Blanc, among others.
The space: The charming 90-seat dining area twinkles with string lights and paper lanterns after dark, and provides a variety of seating options including high-tops, banquettes and a communal counter.
The food: Expect rustic Italian items like fritto misto; fregola with Cerginola olives, endive, radicchio, celery and herbs; and meatballs Amatriciana with polenta. For dessert, there will be ice cream sandwiches, gelato, sorbet and sea salt fudge cookies. Customized picnic baskets will be available for pick-up to grab on your way to the High Line.
