Hawthornes: Troegs Tasting

Troegs rep Matt will be in the house at Chris Fetfatzes and Heather Annechiarico’s Bella Vista bottle shop-cafe, pouring all the newest beers from the Hershey brewery.

Kraftwork: High Gravity Wednesday
3 PM, Wednesday, January 15
The first high-octane beer night of 2014 at Adam Ritter’s Fishtown pub features several special brews, including Mikkeller Beer Geek Brunch and Allagash Midnight Brett.

Bistrot La Minette: Dinner in Alsace
Wednesday, January 15 and Thursday, January 16
Chef Peter Woolsey recently returned from a trip to France where he was inspired by Strasbourg’s famous brasseries. A four-course dinner channeling the cuisine will go for $35; add wine pairings for $15 more.

Kite & Key: Happy Birthday Ben Franklin
5 PM, Friday, January 17
Evolution Brewing is bringing beer to help this Callowhill tavern celebrate the 308th birthday of the unofficial patron saint of Philadelphia. Look for a Flyers ticket giveaway and other “Franklin mayhem.”

Ruba Club: Cheese Ball II
7:30 PM-midnight, Saturday, January 18
Cheese expert and author Tenaya Darlington (aka Madame Fromage) is hosting her second annual dairy potluck, and all you need in order to attend is $10 at the door and some kind of cheese or cheese-friendly dish. More info here.

23rd Street Armory: Winter Clover Market
10 AM-5 PM, Sunday, January 19
Food trucks will be lined up all day outside this second annual crafts show featuring more than 60 vendors. Get a ticket in advance ($5; here), and score entry for two for the price of one.

Varga Bar: Super Fowl Preliminaries
7 PM, Sunday, January 19
If you make chicken wings that can hang with the best, bring two dozen to this Wash West bar and put them to the test (e-mail to register). The winner goes up against chef Evan Turney’s wings on Super Bowl Sunday. Anyone who wants can be a judge - all it takes is $5 and a willingness to eat.
