- Heavy Seas Alehouse officially opened today in Rosslyn, bringing the Baltimore brewery’s craft beer and upscale pub grub to the area. The restaurant, located at 1501 Wilson Blvd., Suite 105, has a menu overseen by executive chef Matt Seeber and featuring dishes like tasso ham hushpuppies and mussels cooked with Heavy Seas Gold Ale, fennel, roasted garlic butter, tomato and Old Bay. Six year-round drafts and several seasonal brews will flow from the taps. The restaurant will offer lunch and dinner daily starting at 11 AM.
- Artifact Coffee in Baltimore is pulling from the DC chef pool once more for a collaboration with Neighborhood Restaurant Group chef Kyle Bailey and pastry chef Tiffany MacIsaac, who will bring GBD’s fried chicken, biscuits and donuts to Charm City next month. The takeover will start March 7 with breakfast - which will include donuts (that can also be pre-ordered by the half dozen) and things like breakfast sandwiches on a maple-donut bun - from 7 AM until they run out. Dinner March 8 runs from 6-10 PM and will feature biscuit sandwiches, two types of pie and a bar stocked with local hard cider, beer, punch and shrubs. For reservations, call 410-464-8000. - Alexandria’s Port City Brewing Co. has collaborated with chef-restaurateur Geoff Tracy to create a custom beer that will be served on draft at the chef’s many local restaurants - including Chef Geoff’s and Lia’s - starting mid-April. Chef Geoff's Northwest Ale is described as being a hoppy and smooth American pale ale with “fruity malt and lively hop flavors.”
