• Night Market is back! The Food Trust has announced dates for this year’s wildly popular evening food truck fests. Old City will host on May 15 - historic attire is encouraged - and West Oak Lane is next on June 19. Then Lancaster Avenue at 35th Street gets the August 21 edition, and on October 2 it’s back to Chinatown, where the event drew one of its biggest crowds ever.
• Vanity Fair asked Philadelphian-turned-New-Yorker Questlove to pick his top 10 restaurants in the world, and he shouted out his hometown by naming Zahav to the list. The hummus, he notes, is unlike any other. This puts Michael Solomonov and Steve Cook’s restaurant up there with Trois Mec, Eleven Madison Park and Next - not bad company at all.
• While we’re busy wondering about Jose Garces’ high end endeavors at Volvér (vote in our poll here), Brian Freedman takes a look at Local Tavern - the Garces-consulted spot in the PHL airport. The Philly Weekly critic finds a lot to like about it, including iPad ordering and an expert pulled pork sandwich. More reason to arrive early for your flight.
• Milk Punch seems like an unlikely drink, but when it’s done right, it’s exquisite. So says Adam Erace in the Philadelphia City Paper, getting his lesson in dairy-boozing from Vernick Food & Drink’s Vincent Stipo.
