Union Square Hospitality Group, the Danny Meyer-led restaurant powerhouse behind Blue Smoke, The Modern, Gramercy Tavern, Marta, Union Square Cafe and other big name dining destinations, is back with yet another culinary concept: Caffe Marchio, an Italian-style counter-serve coffee bar now open for business inside the Redbury Hotel. Open from 7AM to 6PM, the casual daytime spot’s breakfast bill will include a house brew made in partnership with fellow New York shop Joe Coffee and modeled after bold Roman espresso as well as Italian pasticcerie from pastry chef Jessica Weiss while chef Joe Tarasco’s lunch menu will focus on more substantial fare like sandwiches stuffed with slow-roasted meats paired with seasonal sides plus beer and wine. Designed by local trendsetters Home Studios (Sisters and Elsa in Brooklyn; Manhattan’s Black Seed and Rebelle), the space completes the breezy Euro-centric theme with high ceilings, terrazzo countertops and white walls dotted with eclectic vintage portraiture and lined with dark wood trim, evoking a stylish yet unpretentious vibe.
