Dell'Anima Chef Gabe Thompson Leaves New York

The Epicurean Group frontman departs after 8 years

Chef Gabe Thompson, integral to the success of fixture Village Italian restaurants dell'anima, L'Artusi, Anfora and L'Apicio is leaving the Epicurean Group after 8 years at the helm. Thompson and his wife Katherine (the former pastry chef for the group) are leaving NYC to pursue new endeavors in Washington DC. Thompson, along with chef de cuisine Andrew Whitney and co-owner Joe Campanale competed on the Bravo reality show Best New Restaurant earlier this year. Epicurean CEO August Cardona remarked in a press statement of Thompson's departure: 

"It has been an absolute pleasure building Epicurean Group alongside Gabe for the past 8 years and we wish him nothing but the best. We're confident in the team he has nurtured over the years to continue his original vision of “downtown Italian” and will look to our talented chefs including Erin Shambura, Andrew Whitney, Jubilee Ihorn, Sarah Ewald and others to carry on our tradition of the utmost quality and hospitality." 

There's been a wave of chefs leaving the Big Apple recently including Nutellasagna maven Allison Robicelli and her husband who announced plans to move her operation to Baltimore next year, the crew at Jersey City's Thirty Acres and last year, Boulud frontman, Gavin Kaysen.
