The folks over a Fat Rice teased us with their piri piri chicken special — make with a spicy Seedling Farm pepper sauce — but this week it finally finds a permanent home on the just-launched lunch menu. The charcoal-roasted chicken can be ordered with a choice of sauces: "Africana" (spicy tomato peanut) or "Firebird" (lemon, garlic and chile). The dish will still be available at dinner in "limited quantities." Other must-try items include a lunch-size portion of nasi lemak, coconut-scented jasmine rice that's topped with hard-boiled tea eggs, fresh cucumber, spicy sambal, fried fish and crispy Spanish peanuts. There's also a Malaysian take on ramen called laksa lemak, thin rice noodles in a hearty coconut curry broth with hard boiled eggs, tofu puffs, fried shallots, fresh shallots, bean sprouts and Vietnamese cilantro topped with a dollop of spicy shrimp sambal. Hours for lunch, which is also available for take-out, are Wednesday-Saturday, 11 AM to 2 PM (the Fat Tea Brunch will now be served on Sundays only).
