James Beard Award-Winning Chefs Dinner
Chef Robert Del Grande and his team at RDG + Bar Annie will work with chef Chris Shepherd of Underbelly to present their version of Shepherd’s Southeast Asian cuisine. The five-course menu will not be revealed until each dish arrives at your table (7 PM; $200 per person).
La Griglia Italian Pairing Dinner
Five courses plus wine include tortellini di zucca (roasted butternut squash and sage) and Riesling Vigna Costa, Bruno Verdi; panzanella di bufala (marinated heirloom tomatoes, bread crumbs, olive oil and aged balsamic pearls) and Greco di Tufo, Feudi di San Gregorio Campania; halibut in cartoccio (roasted tomatoes, carciofi artichokes, marinated olives and Italian peppers) and Barolo Lecinquevigne, DaMilano Piemonte; petite veal ossobuco and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Asinone, Poliziano; and Italian trifle (limoncello custard, ladyfingers and chocolate) and Moscato Dindarello, Maculan Veneto (7 PM; River Oaks location; $95 per person).
Birds of a Feather Drink Beer Together
Chef Chris Shepherd presents a bird- and beer-centric five-course dinner at Montrose-area beer joint and eatery The Hay Merchant. A reversal of typical Hay Merchant beer dinners — when food is paired with selected beer — the menu will be chosen first this go round. The event is limited to 32 tickets (7 PM; $90 per person).
Fried Chicken Feast
Brennan’s of Houston in Midtown hosts a dinner and conversation with Adrian Miller, author of Soul Food: The Surprising Story of an American Cuisine, One Plate at a Time. Executive chef Danny Trace opens his kitchen to Miller, showcasing recipes from the book (fried chicken, greens, black-eyed peas, stewed okra and tomatoes, cornbread, mac 'n' cheese and banana pudding) (5:30 PM; $45 per person).
