James Beard Foundation's Taste America Hits Boston

A reception and dinner with some of the city's top chefs

Break out your bibs - assuming they match your cocktail attire. On Friday, October 24, Boston will host a stop on the James Beard Foundation's Taste America Tour, a city-hopping series that pairs a visiting star chef with a team of local talent. In Boston, Jamie Bissonnette (pictured) will helm the 7:30 PM dinner alongside a well-known West Coast toque. But five other Boston-area chefs will be on hand to provide tastings at a 6:30 PM reception. Here's a quick look at the lineup for the Foundation fundraiser, and a few tasting notes on what the participants have been up to recently. 

Jamie Bissonnette (Coppa, Toro

For Friday night's four-course dinner, "Taste America All-Star" Ludo Lefebvre of LA's Trois Mec will team up with our own Bissonnette, recent Best Chef, Northeast winner. Dinner starts at 7:30 PM at the Revere Hotel Boston Common. (Tickets are available here.) Both chefs will also participate in cooking demos on Saturday, October 25, during the Foundation's "Sur La Table," a day of free culinary events at Copley Place.

Mary Dumont (Harvest)

This isn't Dumont's only collaborative dinner for the month. Next week she hosts Overkill 2014, a multi-course blowout featuring a dozen of the city's best chefs. A fundraiser for Share Our Strength's No Kid Hungry initiative, it also taps the talents of Will Gilson of Puritan & Co., Karen Akunowicz of Myers + Chang, Monica Glass of Clio, and Jaime Davis of Deuxave, among others.
