The Brooklyn pizza scene is heating up once again, as Michele Iuliano's Luzzo Group (Da Mikele, Ovest Pizzoteca) opens its first non-Manhattan outlet, Luzzo BK, today on Atlantic Avenue. While Brooklyn is home to storied dough doctors like DiFara, the new Brooklyn Heights joint will bring the family's signature Bufala pie (pictured) over the bridge. In addition to a variety of cheese and toppings - there's even a fried "montanara"-style pizza - the menu will offer antipasti like fried artichoke hearts, salads and pasta dishes, along with wine and beer to wash it all down.
Behind the main space, there's a backyard dining area for warmer days. And looking ahead, Luzzo's has a couple of other locales in the works for next year
