Milk Bar to Join Momofuku at CityCenter Next Year

Remember when we wrote yesterday that a Momofuku concept coming to DC might be the biggest food news all year? Well, we were wrong. (And that ought to teach us.)

After Washingtonian broke what we thought was the only big David Chang news of the day, DCist spotted this tweet from Chang himself: “Hey dc. @momofuku isn't coming home solo @momomilkbar & @ChristinaTosi are opening a spot too! That's right soft serve & cookies for all.”

An email from a representative confirms that both a Momofuku and a Milk Bar will open in CityCenterDC next year. Here are the details we know so far:

“Momofuku is excited to announce that we will be opening a restaurant and a Milk Bar location in Washington's CityCenterDC, on the corner of 11th and I Street. The restaurant will be a new concept, but will also feature some of our favorite dishes from across our menus in New York, Sydney, and Toronto. The project will open in 2015. This will be David Chang and Christina Tosi's first project in the District and both look forward to opening in the D.C. area, close to their respective hometowns,” the rep writes.

Tosi has told Eater that she grew up in nearby Springfield, VA, and Chang also hails from Northern Virginia.

Milk Bar, perhaps best known for its cereal milk and crack pie desserts, has five locations in New York and one in Toronto. As for Chang savory-dish fans, we're ready for pork buns.
