- The Washington Post’s Tom Sietsema broke the news on his chat today that Mintwood Place’s chef and owner have inked a deal with City Market at O to open a yet-to-be-named American spin on the Adams Morgan French favorite. He also revealed some Bryan Voltaggio news: Family Meal will expanding into a second location in Ashburn, VA, this fall, and the upcoming Baltimore version of Aggio has scored former Del Posto executive sous chef Dan Izzo. It’s not clear yet what his title or exact role will be.
- Washington City Paper reports that Willie T's Lobster Shack opened for lunch and dinner in Dupont Circle today. The new lobster roll spot is located in the former Marvelous Market and owned by Thompson Hospitality, which also runs American Tap Room and Austin Grill (1511 Connecticut Ave. NW; 202-332-3690).
- Jack Rose Dining Saloon’s new executive chef unveiled his menu overhauls yesterday. Russell Jones, who has cooked at Restaurant Eve, Vinoteca and the now-closed Le Paradou, implemented changes that include Southern-style snacks, shareable supper plates and an entirely new menu format. Diners can try such appetizers as clam dip with horseradish and lemon sour cream or entrees like an ale-brined half chicken with local ramps, homemade dumplings and a chicken-thyme jus.
